Comfort Your Soul in Dunedin, FL, is a dream come true for Judy Hitchman, MSW, DD, ZRM.  After 20 plus years of teaching, providing family therapy and working in research and healthcare, she is following her bliss and sharing her expertise in tarot, Reiki, crystals, and jewelry.

I have been teaching a class on learning to read tarot for others.  One of the things that comes up for many newbies is, "Should I get certified or join a group?"  I have been reading tarot for over 30 years.  I began to study on my own out of curiosity.  I lived n a small town in Iowa and there were no classes and this was BEFORE the internet!  I read for friends only.  After five years, I moved to Miami and was fortunate to meek the creator of my deck, The Voyager.  I went to a New Life Expo to hear Dr. James Wanless speak.  He was just developing a certification course.  I have spent the next 10 years taking courses and learning to teach as well as enhance my skills.

Several associations have formed over the years to support tarot readers.  However, the most successful has been the Tarot Association out of Keswick England.  It's tag line is "Restoring the dignity of tarot".  The leaders, Marcus Katz and Tali Goodwin, have dedicated themselves to exploring the history and future of tarot and divination tools.  They are prolific writers as well.  You ay find their many books on Amazon (many on kindle).  I highly recommend their "Secrets of the Rider-Waite" for a full history of the classic deck.

Joining the Association provides me with access to many free videos, guest speakers on webinars and access to other tarot readers worldwide.  The Association also sponsors several conferences worldwide.  Well worth the $85 per year fee.  You even get a free tarot deck when you renew your membership.  Sign up at

Why attend a tarot convention?

This weekend in Portland Oregon, the Northwest Tarot Symposium is having a 3 day convention.  It included presentations and workshops on a variety of subjects relating to tarot, lenormand and oracle cards given by experts in their fields.  There were panels of authors and artists discussing their contributions to decks.  There were vendors who offered decks, jewelry, art and even chocolates!  Lots of time to share different reading styles and experience readings.  Enough to satisfy questions from beginners to war veterans of reading tarot.

Attending these weekend conventions are an excellent way to connect with other devotees from all over the world.  Conventions are held yearly in New York, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Portland and Palm Beach FL.

Coming next October 2016 is TarotCon FL USA sponsored by my Tarot Association headquartered in Keswick England.  Affordable and always entertaining and educational.  to lear more check out FL 2016.  Hope to see you there.

What is Reiki?

REIKI (ray key) is a transfer of life force energy, known as prana, from a person who has completed training and attunement.  Reiki was originally practiced in Japan after a Dr. Usui received symbols following a fasting period.  He believed those symbols originated in Tibet.  The practitioner does certain hand positions on a patient's body which transfers this life force through the hands of the practitioner.  This can feel like warmth, coolness, tingling or have no sensation.  It has also been known as Healing Touch or laying on of hands.  It has been shown to relieve pain, ease tension and speed the body's healing process.  Originally brought to the United States in the 1940's, it has grown in acceptance to the point where Reiki practitioners are being used in doctor;s offices and even during surgery to speed recovery. Reiki does NOT interfere with any Western medicine treatment.
